Over the last 30 years, LIGHT ALLOY have earned the title of The Home Counties Premier Rock Covers Band for a very good reason, and they continue to bring their own blend of pop and rock covers to live music audiences in Herts and Beds and the surrounding counties.

Their ever expanding musical repertoire includes classic songs covering almost five decades from artists as diverse as The Stereophonics, Primal Scream, Tears for Fears, Biffy Clyro, Simple Minds, Snow Patrol, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Killers, Bruce Springsteen, Kings of Leon, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, David Bowie, Stevie Wonder and more and includes awesome versions of signature anthems from bands such as Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Queen, U2 and The Who that other bands just aren't capable of tackling.

Light Alloy have crafted their sets to provide more than two hours of fantastic entertainment, described by one venue as "the best band we've had by a country mile".

Originally formed in 1988, the members have an impressive pedigree, having previously worked with numerous well known artists.  Their experience gives them the edge over traditional covers bands.  In mid-2014 the original bass player Ian Adamson decided to leave the band, and a new era began - although the songs, for the most part, remain the same.

Light Alloy are:

Chris ("The Doc") Gledhill:  Lead Vocals and Rhythm Guitar.  The archetypal lead singer.  As well as carrying the vocal lead, Chris plays a Guild acoustic, and a Burns Club Series Marquee or a Fender Strat electric guitar through his Fender amp.

Rob Ford:  Keyboards and Backing Vocals.  Rob is our Musical Director.  Classically trained but with a Jazz & Blues pedigree, Rob cut his teeth playing the London rock band circuit with numerous regular appearances at The Marquee, The Mean Fiddler and The Borderline amongst others.  Rob plays Korg keyboards, in particular an O1/W Pro and a Trinity Pro.

Chris Stewart:  Drums and Percussion.  The powerhouse behind the kit who keeps us rocking and driving along.  His awesomly powerful sound comes from his natural wood Yamaha Stage Custom Standard kit, with Evans Hydraulic Black Mirror heads on the 10", 12", 13" hanging toms and 16" x 18" floor tom plus a Drumport on the 22" x 16" bass drum, which he thumps with a Tama Iron Cobra double pedal equipped with a Graham Jarvis 2" square block for the main beater.  All this is enhanced by a huge selection of Avedis Zildjian Z range cymbals and played with either Zildjian or Vic Firth 5B Nylon Bead sticks.

Rich Hurford:  Bass and Backing Vocals.  Rich is our new “old” bass player, as he was a founding member of the band’s former incarnations The Sports and Easy Street.  Having hung up his early '80s Ibanez Roadster fretless bass all those years ago, he’s now dug it back out of the case, bought a new TC Electronic bass amp and dusted off his vocal chords.

Mick Irving:  Rhythm and Lead Guitar.  Famous for his searing solos, Mick loves Levinson Blade and Zematis guitars and has finally found the sound he's been searching for all these years with his Fender Silver Bullet amp!
